South east London thief stole woman’s £2,000 Louis Vuitton purse from pub

A thief who stole a woman’s £2,000 Louis Vuitton purse from a pub has been jailed.

The woman was drinking at The Hercules Pub near Lambeth North station at around 5.30pm on July 4 when a man pinched her handbag.

As well as the Louis Vuitton purse, the handbag contained Prada sunglasses worth over £400 and around £70 cash in different currencies.

Alfie Joseph Crawley, 53, of Fir Trees Close in Surrey Quays, was later identified as the thief.

A few weeks later on July 24, Crawley stole a handbag containing £5,000 of personal belongings from a woman at St James’s in Westminster.

Crawley pleaded guilty to both thefts at Croydon Crown Court last Friday (December 6).

He was sentenced to 38 weeks in custody – approximately eight and a half months.

At the same court hearing Crawley also pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

On October 10 he was pulled over in a Nissan Micra in Lewisham and failed to provide a blood sample to test for alcohol or drugs.

Crawley was disqualified from driving a further 71 weeks.
