There’s no such thing as a free lunch – nor a free toilet break as far as Starbucks is concerned. If you are heading to America for a holiday, be prepared.
It has been announced that as of January 27, Starbucks will make you pay before using their toilet facilities. According to BBC News, the much-loved coffee chain is set to make a U-turn on a rule which were introduced six years ago.
It meant people visiting its cafes in North America did not have to purchase something in order to be able to use their toilets, but now that has changed. The move is said to be part of a “back to Starbucks” strategy to boost sales and was announced by the company’s new chief, Brian Niccol.

The recently appointed chief said he is aiming to make a better experience for the chain’s customers. As well as this, he is also said to be keen on improving its menu and coffee shops.
A Starbucks spokesperson told BBC News: “Implementing a Coffeehouse Code of Conduct… is a practical step that helps us prioritise our paying customers who want to sit and enjoy our cafes. These updates are part of a broader set of changes we are making to enhance the cafe experience as we work to get back to Starbucks.”
The news comes as the high street chain is set to add three new items and revive a fan favourite this year. Starbucks is launching a novel pistachio-flavoured drink range in the UK for the first time, featuring the Pistachio Velvet Latte and Iced Pistachio Latte.
These new offerings combine a white chocolate pistachio-flavour sauce with Starbucks’ classic espresso and oat drink, crowned with a layer of pistachio-flavoured cream cold foam. The hot beverage starts at £4.65, while the iced version begins at £4.70, boasting a similar concoction served chilled and topped with the same creamy foam.
