Strictly Come Dancing’s Chris McCausland shares Dianne Buswell’s hidden health battle

Chris McCausland has revealed his Strictly Come Dancing partner Dianne Buswell was struck down with a virus while filming the BBC One competition.

The couple were crowned winners of the 2024 series on December 14 after impressing viewers at home with their stunning routines and adorable partnership.

Comedian Chris appeared on BBC’s The One Show on Friday (December 20) evening alongside Lee Mack to discuss their upcoming film Bad Tidings. However, before Alex Jones and Lauren Laverne asked about the new Christmas movie, they couldn’t help but talk all things Strictly with the new champion.

As a clip of Chris and Dianne dancing on the show played, The 1% Club presenter Lee couldn’t resist poking fun at his colleague Chris for his “bold” outfit choice during one of his iconic Strictly performances.

Lee, who watched Chris and dance partner Dianne nab the Glitterball trophy on December 14 live in the studio, quipped: “I was just watching that clip again of you dressed in that white suit, which is a very brave colour for a man of your age, Chris.”

However, Chris responded with a candid revelation, saying: “That white suit was for the couples choice and the first time we did that Dianne had been up all night with a virus out of both ends so it was very brave to wear white the first time around.”

Alex and Lauren were left visibly shocked by Chris’ admission about Dianne and Lee mocked him saying: “Oh the glamour. At least you’re not telling everyone on national television ey.” To which Chris quipped, brushing off his comment, “This is pre-recorded isn’t it?”

Chris and Lee’s new movie Bad Tidings follows neighbours Neil (Lee Mack) and Scott (Chris McCausland) as they fight it out to become the new head of neighbourhood watch and the Christmas lights.

The One Show airs weeknights on BBC One at 7pm
