The M48 Severn Bridge will be closed this weekend due to strong winds

The older M48 Severn Bridge will be closed this weekend due to ‘strong winds’.

The closures are in relation to the yellow weather warning for wind which has been placed on much of Wales for Sunday.

According to National Highways, the winds are also forecast to be strong on Saturday, so the bridge is being closed from 6am on Saturday for safety reasons.

No official reopening date or time has been given, but National Highways have said they will be monitoring the situation throughout the weekend and will reopen the bridge when it is safe to do so.

Diversions will be in place and the newer M4 Prince of Wales Bridge remains open, with National Highways confirming there are currently no plans to close the Prince of Wales Bridge.
