CCTV has captured three unknown individuals taking stock from a family-business before fleeing in a car just days after Christmas. Around £300 worth of stock was stolen from outside the Premier Trelewis Post Office and Mini Market in Treharris on Friday, December 27.
CCTV captured the moment a car pulled up outside the Premier before a person in a hooded grey tracksuit jumped out of the passenger side of the vehicle to take crates of alcohol during a delivery of stock to the shop, at around 8.10am. Just before 8.40am, the car is seen returning and a passenger takes another crate from outside the shop, before the shopkeepers run outside.
Stock was also removed from a delivery van while it was being unloaded. South Wales Police confirmed they were investigating the incident. Join our WhatsApp news community here for the latest breaking news.

Purnima Kumar, whose parents own the shop, said the incident was “shocking” and “confusing” for her and her family. “My heart sank this morning when it happened. It’s so frustrating but we can’t blame anyone because we don’t know who it is,” she said.
She explained that being a shopkeeper could be “quite nerve-wracking” due to the stories they heard from others who had been victims of theft. She added that it was “exhausting” for this to happen at this time of year, after the shop had stayed open throughout Christmas to continue serving the community.
Purnima shared the CCTV to Facebook to warn others about the incident and in the hope of finding out who the people in the footage were. She said they had received “very supportive comments from their customers” who had been trying to help them find out more.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “South Wales Police is investigating a theft of stock from a shop in Trelewis which happened between 8.00am and 8.40am this morning (December 27) while deliveries were being made to the store in Trelewis High Street.
“Three unknown individuals removed items from a delivery van while stock was being unloaded and fled in a waiting car. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police, quoting reference 2400425517.”
