The top primary schools in Lewisham as deadline approaches

The latest rankings have identified the best-performing primary schools in Lewisham, shining a light on the borough’s educational success.

Nationally, 61 per cent of Year 6 pupils met the expected standard in reading, writing, and maths during the 2023-24 academic year. In Lewisham, the figure was slightly higher, with 63 per cent of pupils hitting this benchmark.

Parents with children starting primary school in September 2025 are reminded to apply for a school place by January 15, 2025.

Applications can be submitted online via Lewisham Council’s school admissions portal.

1. Haberdashers’ Hatcham Free SchoolClaiming the top spot is Haberdashers’ Hatcham Free School, where an impressive 90 per cent of pupils met the expected standard in reading, writing, and maths.

2. St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School and NurseryIn second place is St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery, achieving a score of 86 per cent.

3. Eliot Bank Primary School and St Margaret’s Lee Church of England Primary SchoolSharing third place are Eliot Bank Primary School and St Margaret’s Lee Church of England Primary School, with 85 per cent of pupils meeting the required standard.

5. Turnham AcademyIn fifth place is Turnham Academy, where 83 per cent of pupils reached the benchmark.

6. Gordonbrock Primary SchoolTaking sixth place is Gordonbrock Primary School, with 82 per cent of pupils meeting the expected level.
