A number of planning applications have recently been approved by Torfaen County Borough Council.
Here are the plans that were approved in the week commencing January 6, 2025.
Proposed front porch and toilet
An application to build a front porch and toilet at 41 Twmpath Road, Pontypool, has been approved with conditions.
The work must begin within five years and match the approved plans.
A bird nesting box must be installed before the development is in use and maintained permanently.
The porch’s external surfaces must match the existing building’s materials.
Two fascia signs and projecting sign
Permission has been granted for two fascia signs and a projecting sign at 13-15 George Street, Pontypool.
The approval lasts for five years, and the signs must be built according to the approved documents.
Conditions include maintaining the site in a “clean and tidy condition” and ensuring the signs do not obscure or disrupt road traffic signs or similar.
The signs must not exceed an illumination intensity of 300 candela per square metre, and must be static.
Notice board
A free-standing two-bay, man-made timber notice board at Folly Road, Trevethin, has been approved with conditions.
The work must follow approved plans and is valid for five years.
Conditions for approval include maintaining a clean site, with the adverts remaining clean and safe and ensuring no obstruction to road traffic or other vital signs.
Non-material amendments
Amendments have been approved for the Croesyceiliog Comprehensive School planning application.
The retention of two buildings for additional teaching space for the neighbouring Crownbridge School has been approved.
A fitness suite will be retained and available for community hire, with rationalised fencing for security.
The air monitoring station has been relocated to prevent potential anti-social behaviour.
Proposed seating at the sports pitch will not be implemented, and fencing will be adjusted.
The all-weather pitch will remain in its planned position, with paths redesigned for accessible gradients.
Existing tennis courts and associated parking will remain as they are, with additional landscaping proposed.
The temporary car park at the north of the site will be retained, and a new fence and gates will be installed.
The cycle shelter will be relocated approximately 10 metres northeast, near the entrance, with fencing and gates provided.
