The Traitors’ contestant Leanne has survived two weeks in the castle and could even make it to the final, which is happening next week. The former army service woman from Holywell in Flintshire is the last and only contender flying the Welsh flag, after fellow north Whalian, 24-year-old translator Elen, was banished in the second episode and 32-year-old business director Charlotte, who has adopted a fake Welsh accent, is actually from London and not Wales.
In the third series so far, Leanne has remained a strong contender, hiding her army background from her fellow contestants and instead telling them she’s a nail technician, while confidently putting her voice and opinion forward at the round table. But so far, Leanne has given very little away about her home life. Before the psychological adventure series began, Leanne shared her reasons for joining the show and gave glimpses of her personal life.
In an interview ahead of the first episode, she revealed that she had a partner Sophie, with whom she shares two sons. Reminiscing on her reasons for joining the show ahead of its airing she said: “It just looked like so much fun. I remember watching series one when I was pregnant with my partner, Sophie, and she said to me, ‘oh, you’d be so good at this’, because I tend to get away with a lot.

“I tend to tell a few white lies to my boss for a couple of days off work, and I somehow always seem to get away with it. And she said you’d be so good at getting people wrapped around your finger.
“Sounds awful, doesn’t it?! And I applied in January. I remember we were watching an episode, and she fell asleep on the sofa with the twins, so I obviously had to pause it, because I would have had to end up watching it twice because we can’t watch anything without each other.
“And I thought, how funny would it be if I went upstairs and applied, and by the time she woke up from her nap, I could have been like, ‘I’ve just applied to be on The Traitors’. So, I did it. I ran upstairs, and I didn’t realise how much was on the application and the video! I was trying to do the video as quietly as I possibly could.”
She also explained her reasons for not divulging in her past career. In the interview, she said: “I’m going to say I’m a nail technician, and I work in the salon that’s down the road from my house. I’m in that salon all the time. I might as well work there, because my sister-in-law owns the salon with her best friend, so I’m always in. I know a lot about the salon, I do feel like I’m part of the team anyway and that’s how I feel like I’ll get away with it.
“Harry won last year. Obviously, he was a soldier, and he bare faced lied his way to the end. I feel like it would put me at a bit of a disadvantage to divulge my previous job because people are automatically going to assume anyone in the military is smart and strategic.”
On Instagram, the Faithful has opened up further about her family life. As suggested from her profile on the social media platform, Leanne got engaged in August 2024. Sharing a photo of her with the diamond ring, as well as her partner, she wrote the caption: “A thousand times yes… Mrs Jones pending”.
Two months later, in October, she revealed that she had left the British Army. “Today is my official last ever day in the British Army! A career of over 12 years come to an end and I’m so proud to of served for our country. I’m ready for my next chapter”. But The Traitor star has also opened up about the most vulnerable parts of her life too.
In January this year, she revealed that her partner had been undergoing treatment for breast cancer. In a candid post on Instagram on Thursday, January 9, she wrote: “This is the only news we needed and wanted… On the 31st July 2024 my partner, and the mother of my children was diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer. Watching the person you love fight through chemotherapy is up there with the worst things on earth.
“We quickly learnt to never take anything for granted ever again, and sadly had to learn that tomorrow is never promised and fear of the unknown literally killed us inside. Yesterday, Wednesday 8th January 2025, the strongest woman on the planet earth was told she is cancer free. She did it.”
She continued: “I cannot express or put in to words how proud I am, and how in awe I am of her strength every single day. Today we begin to truly celebrate us, our boys, and the excitement of the rest of our lives. I could never thank the NHS enough for quite literally saving my whole family. And the biggest thank you to our support system, we’re so lucky to be surrounded by the most incredible family and friends. For anybody fighting, or for anybody watching their loved ones fight this horrible disease. I see you and I feel you. Please don’t give up”.
Ahead of the show, the Traitor star also shared what she would do if she was lucky to win the prize money. She said: “I would love to go through IVF again. I went through IVF with my boys, and I was very poorly throughout my pregnancy, and then I went into early labour at six months.
“The boys were only 26 weeks when they were born. Because I was so poorly at the time I feel I missed out on enjoying that newborn stage. I’m so so grateful to have them, and I’m so lucky that they’re alive. When they did come home from hospital after three months, they come home on oxygen, and it was a struggle to take them out. I would love the opportunity to have another baby, hopefully have a bit of a better experience. And to make our family a bit bigger.”
