A THIEF stole a food package from a woman’s home in Newport, leaving her in financial difficulty.
Michelle Anne said the food package was stolen from inside her gate yesterday morning on Ford Street, Baneswell.
A figure with their hood up is seen opening the gate to her home, taking the food package before running quickly away.
Watch the CCTV footage below, as the thief approaches the home, grabs the package and does a runner.
Ms Anne said the food package is an important part of her weekly financing.
She said: “It’s made a difficult week for me financially, I use the food boxes to budget, and I’ve had to go out and buy food for the week.”
She gets the food packages every week and this week was no different. Ms Anne said yesterday “the box was delivered, like it is every week”.
At the time she did not suspect anything and had not noticed that the package was gone, saying: “I don’t usually get it in immediately.”
However, this Sunday things were different.
“When I opened the door the parcel was gone and I thought I had misheard the door,” said Ms Anne.
It was at the point she decided to see had happened on her CCTV footage. She has cameras positioned above her gate at her home in Baneswell.
“I checked the cameras and saw the two men, making off with the parcel,” said Ms Anne.
It comes only a few weeks after a similar incident in Baneswell when a mother became scared when intruder entered her home at her kid’s bedtime.
“I don’t feel safe living here anymore,” said Ms Lewis at the time, who lives on Blewitt Street in Baneswell, Newport.
Leanne Lewis, 37 said: “I had put my recycling out and forgot to lock my door as I was putting my little one to bed.”
She said the intruder did not enter her home because they heard her inside.
Ms Lewis said: “After putting my daughter to bed around 8pm I was just sat watching the telly. I heard a noise and shouted up to my daughter to get into bed with no reply I got up to see my two cats by the front door crying out.”
