This Gwent town is one of the top for mince pie enthusiasts

A Gwent town has been named as one of the top spots for mince pie enthusiasts.

Waitrose has named Abergavenny, along with Salisbury and Southend as the top three places where people can’t get enough of the festive treat.

The store, which has a branch in the Gwent town, sold more than 16 million mince pies in 2023.

This year, the Waitrose All Butter Mince Pies have been revealed as the most popular choice across all three areas, but people in Abergavenny have been particularly loving the Waitrose No.1 Crumble Top Mince Pies with Cranberry and Orange.

When it comes to stollen, the top scoffers can be found in Salisbury, Cheltenham and Saltash, according to Waitrose.

Leyla Page, seasonal bakery buyer at Waitrose, said: “It’s fascinating to see the festive feasting habits of the nation revealed.”
