People eligible for flu and covid-19 vaccines are being urged to get jabbed this winter.
Hywel Dda University Health Board (UHB) is encouraging people to drop in to vaccination centres in Aberaeron, Llanelli, and Neyland to protect themselves.
The centres will be open on December 23, 24, and 27, from 9.15am to 5.30pm.
Flu and covid-19 can be particularly severe for young children, clinically vulnerable individuals, and older adults, sometimes leading to hospitalisation.
Eligible groups can receive the vaccines without needing an appointment.
Children aged two (on August 31, 2024) to year 11 can access the nasal flu vaccine.
The full list of those eligible for flu vaccination includes: children aged two and three years on August 31, 2024; children in primary and secondary school, from reception class to year 11; people aged six months to 64 years in clinical risk groups; people aged 65 years and older (on March 31, 2024); pregnant women; carers aged 16 and over; people aged six months to 65 years who live with someone with a weakened immune system; people with a learning disability; frontline health and social care workers; all staff working in care homes with regular client contact; and poultry workers at high risk.
For the covid-19 vaccination, the following groups are eligible: people aged six months to 64 years with a long-term health condition (which includes pregnant women and people with a weakened immune system); residents in a care home for older adults; people aged 65 years and older (on March 31, 2025); unpaid carers; frontline health and social care workers; and staff working in care homes for older adults.
