Trial of Wisbech man David Newton to begin today after he denies murdering retired postmistress Una Crown

The trial of a 70-year-old who is accused of murdering a pensioner 12 years ago is set to start today.

David Newton, of Magazine Close in Wisbech, previously denied murdering Una Crown, 86, who was found dead in her bungalow on the same road in 2013.

Mrs Crown’s body was found on January 13, 2013. Her body had been set on fire and she had multiple stab wounds to her neck and chest.

He was charged with the murder in April last year.
