The trial of 70-year-old David Newton who denies murdering his elderly neighbour Una Crown in 2013 is set to finish early next week.
The jury, which has been sworn into the trial taking place at Cambridge Crown Court, has had two days off.
Crown prosecutor John Price KC finished reading evidence against Newton on Tuesday, with the defence expected to start mitigating for him tomorrow.
Tomorrow, the judge will formally rule on defence hearsay applications then the rest of the day will depend on the outcome of that.
Cambridge Crown Court has confirmed that the trial is set to continue tomorrow.
Mrs Crown’s body was found by a family member on January 13, 2013. She had been stabbed multiple times to the neck and chest and her body had been set on fire.
