Two taken to hospital after double decker bus crashes into South Norwood bridge

Two people have been taken to hospital after a double decker bus crashed into a a railway bridge in South Norwood.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called at 10.55pm on December 14 with reports of the incident in Portland Road.

London Ambulance Service paramedics and ambulance crews attended the scene.

Two people were taken to hospital, while two others were treated and discharged at the scene.

Three additional individuals declined treatment.

A picture taken at the scene of the incident has shown emergency responders working within a scene, after a cordon was put in place.

The roof of the bus can be seen ripped out of place and hanging over the rear end of the vehicle.

Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the events are underway.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called on Saturday 15 December at 10.55pm to reports of a traffic collision in Portland Road, South Norwood.

“We sent ambulance crews, paramedics in response cars and an incident response officer.

“We took two people to hospital and discharged a further two patients at the scene, while another three people declined treatment.”
