Thousands of people are expected to pour into Saundersfoot to enjoy the village’s annual New Year’s Day Swim.
The event is the largest of its kind in the UK, and last year saw 2,500 swimmers cheered on by a 9,000-strong crowd.
To ensure the safety of the pedestrians who throng the village, traffic is going to be excluded from The Strand and the lower part of High Street for a six-hour period.
This will be as the result of Pembrokeshire County Council making an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The Order states that it “will be to temporarily prohibit all vehicular traffic, other than exempted vehicles, from proceeding along those lengths of adjoining road, known as The Strand and High Street (Lower).
“The order is necessary so that activities and events associated with the New Year’s Day Swim can take place.”
The restrictions will be in force on January 1 between 10am and 4pm.
Pedestrian access will be maintained.
