Woman dies after stabbing in Carshalton home

A woman has died after being found stabbed in a home in Carshalton.

Emergency services were called to Nutfield Close at around 10.30am on Thursday, December 19, following reports of an injured woman inside a home.

Despite efforts by officers and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

While formal identification has yet to be completed, police have named the victim as 42-year-old Gemma Devonish.

Her family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of her death.

In the early hours of Friday, December 20, a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Officers have confirmed that the suspect and the victim were known to each other.

Police are not seeking anyone else in connection with the case at this time.
