You can secure a beach hut in one of Wales’ most prized and stunning locations – here’s how

They are one of the most recognisable features of this Swansea beach. The green and white Edwardian beach huts are part of the furniture at Langland Bay, providing those inside with a prime view of one of Gower’s picturesque bays.

And now the opportunity has arisen for you to rent one of the huts for yourself. Swansea Council has said it is gearing up to make “one of the most important annual draws for one of its treasured assets”, and will be allocating them through a random draw, which will take place in March this year.

Residents living in Swansea can now apply online for one of the 83 available huts, with rental options including three, four, six, ten and 12-month tenancy agreements, starting from April 1, 2025. Applications for the beach huts end on January 29, and every year, hundreds put in bids through the ballot. For the latest Swansea news, sign up to our newsletter here.

Swansea Council’s cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, Robert Francis Davies, said: “Our iconic beach huts at Langland have been a fixture at the bay for decades. The popularity of them means we have to carry out a draw each year so we can allocate the huts in a fair way. Lucky applicants will be able to choose from a variety of rental periods and we will let applicants know in March if they have been successful.

“Langland Bay is very popular with residents and visitors throughout the year and especially in the summer months. The previous investment to rebuild the seawall along with the ‘smoke-free beach’ designation are part of our continued efforts to make the bay an enjoyable visit.”

The closing date for applications for a beach hut is on January 29 at 12 noon. You can apply by clicking here. Join our WhatsApp news community here for the latest breaking news. You will receive updates from us daily.
